Honey Bee Swarms & Safe Removal

HOW TO IDENTIFY A HONEY BEE SWARM:

A bee swarm is a fascinating sight, although it may cause PANIC! However, the bee swarm is not looking to attack you. The bees are merely seeking a new place to make a home. In doing so, a honey bee swarm may rest in a hanging clump while scout bees go off to find a suitable place to make a permanent nest. Swarms may stay for a short while (e.g. 2 hours) to a few days. Keep your distance and you should not be bothered by the bees. Call us as this clumping behavior makes it possible for us beekeepers to gently collect and transport the bees. We offer swarm removals that haven’t invaded a structure for free if located within 10 miles of Thibodaux, LA.

HOW TO IDENTIFY A HONEY BEE HIVE :

When a hive of bees has started to create wax comb to store honey, pollen, brood (baby bees), we call that a hive. Once this process has started, the bees have selected their home location. If you have honeybees living inside your home or other structure, there’s still a chance to save the bees! Call us and we will see if we can help!
Hive removals are priced out by each case (time, location, difficulty, equipment used, etc.).

Organic and Healthy Honey Is Her Made

The 19th century saw significant advancements in beekeeping technology and methods. In 1851, Lorenzo Langstroth, an American beekeeper, invented the movable frame hive, which revolutionized beekeeping by allowing beekeepers to easily inspect hives and harvest honey without destroying the colony.

With the advent of modern transportation and agricultural practices, beekeeping became more commercialized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Commercial beekeepers began providing pollination services to farmers and producing honey on a larger scale.

Honey is the sweet fluid produced by honey bees from the nectar of flowers. Worker honey bees transform the floral nectar that they gather into honey by adding enzymes to the nectar and reducing the moisture.

This is our most asked question! The short answer goes like this: The bees fill frames with honey. We take these frames and run them through a special centrifuge called a honey extractor, where the honey gets thrown out of the frames and pumped into barrels. From there, the honey is poured into beautiful little jars.

As long as honey is sealed in containers, it can remain stable for decades and even centuries! 3000 year old honey retrieved from Egyptian tombs is still unspoiled and ready for human consumption! However, if exposed to air and moisture honey may collect yeast and begin to ferment.
