Our Hive

We have deep roots in agriculture, small business, and small town living.  Our life is not perfect, in fact, it can be crazy at times. However, we strive to be better each day. We work hard. We have fun. And most of all, we do it together as a family.

It all began during the 2020 pandemic, with the creation of Citrus Sisters, our children's front yard fruit stand. Our girls wanted to "make their own money", so they began selling satsumas, fresh juice, homemade butter, eggs from our chickens, and honey from our bees. We never imagined our community's demand for local honey and the success of Citrus Sisters, would grow into a fully operational bee farm and apiary. Our hives are located on our properties in Thibodaux and Houma. Our honey is natural, raw, and local. Every jar comes directly from our hives and is hand-filled by our family. Our mission is to teach our children and our community about agriculture, entrepreneurship, and the health benefits of natural honey.

Meet the Beekeepers

All five of us are essential to our hive.
We each have unique personalities and talents,
and together we have made this business a success.

Michael

Dad, Doctor, Beekeeper

ER Doctor by day(or night), Beekeeper always! Did you know that prior to medical school, Mike received a degree in entomology from Texas A&M? He truly is a “jack of all trades”! He caught his first hive on our property in 2019 and has since grown our apiary to 15 hives. He is the skill and brains behind the honey. Without him, our hives wouldn’t produce such high quality honey. The bees love him and so do we! Stay tuned for his next adventure, “Medical Apitherapy for chronic pain relief”! What Mike loves most about Thibodaux Bee Company: “Seeing the enjoyment on my children’s faces while teaching them a hobby that I love”.

Jennifer

Mom, Doctor, Entrepreneur

Doctor and mom by day, “Queen of the Hive” always and pivotal to everything that happens in it! She’s the brains behind the business. From creativity to marketing and sales, Jen is the one who pushes us all to make dreams and ideas a reality. What she likes most about Thibodaux Bee Company: “Passing on generations of agricultural and entrepreneurial traditions to my kids, and teaching them to make a difference in their communities.”

Eleanor

Almost ten years old, this smart, hard-working, little bee is always up for a challenge. She’s got great ideas, AKA: Citrus Sisters! Eleanor is not afraid to speak up, can sell anything, and is our social media reel maker! She loves helping dad with the bees and mom with marketing and sales! What she likes most about Thibodaux Bee Company : “I like making honey lollipops 🍭 and meeting new customers.”

Amelia

Amelia is eight years old. She is a firecracker, but she also has the biggest heart. She is a true “worker bee” and unafraid to accomplish any task. She is our organizer, cleaner, bottler and actress all in one! She loves preparing for sale days, working with the bees, and of course, designing company fashion merchandise. What she likes most about Thibodaux Bee Company: “I Love HONEYCOMB!!! And donating some of our money we make to charity.”

Joseph Fitzpatrick

Fitz is a one-of-a-kind, future bee man, just like Dad. This six year old is the definition of a “busy bee”! He loves being outdoors, is always looking for cool insects and creatures, and has his own vegetable garden. He is not afraid of anything, curious about everything, and has a smile that lights up our hive! What Fitz likes most about Thibodaux Bee Company: “I like eating honey 🍯 and learning about bees from my Dad”.
